Arsenal urged to sign Ibrahimovic after Paris Saint-Germain sink Chelsea

The 34-year-old's contract expires this summer and the Gunners have been told by Rio Ferdinand that signing the Swede would boost their title hopes next season
Arsenal have been urged to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic in order to give the club a title-winning mentality.

The 34-year-old scored the winner in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday to fire the French champions to the Champions League quarter-finals.

Ibrahimovic’s contract expires at the end of the season and Arsenal have been told that the striker, who has won league titles in Italy, Spain, France and Netherlands, would be the signing that could end their Premier League title drought.

“I think because he’s 34, he’s playing a little bit easier. He plays it a little bit earlier, he doesn’t take as many touches, he’s in a team at the moment who are creating for him,” Glenn Hoddle told BT Sport.

“If he was on a free transfer, I’d love to see him play in the Premier League. It’d be marvellous for the Premier League.

“I think he’d suit Arsenal. I think he’d suit Chelsea. If you want to press, with Man City if Pep’s coming in, probably no, but he’s a wonderful footballer.”

Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand added: “If you’re saying Arsenal, what he’d bring to them is a mentality that they’re lacking.

“A mentality to get over the line and win titles. He’s done that more than anyone.”
