After a rumor ran rampant that Justin Bieber, 21, popped the question to his friend, Hailey Baldwin, 18, fans weren’t exactly sure how to react. After a frenzy of emotional tweets from Beliebers expressing both their devastation as well as their joy over the couple’s “engagement,” the truth was revealed. HollywoodLife.com has all the deets!

Justin’s fans are quite creative! Surprisingly, it looks like it was the Beliebers themselves who served as the catalyst for Justin and Hailey’s fake engagement news. We’re not kidding. Not only did Justin’s fans cause his supposed proposal to make a huge splash on Twitter, they even made it seem like the story was first reported by TMZ. (It totally wasn’t!) Is the Justin fandom just bored?
Here’s how it all happened. Someone put together a fabricated photo of “Hailey’s hand” showing off some bridal bling and falsely watermarked it with TMZ’s logo. So shady! Then the pic went viral and the rest is JB history. Fans were somewhat divided on the “news;” a mix of shock, disdain and just a sprinkle of happiness shone through in fans’ Twitter reactions. Okay, once everyone finally figured out that it was just a prank, Justin’s fans were able to regain composure. Every Justin fan still has their chance at becoming his future wife. Alleluia!
