Ariana Grande covers (and crushes) Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing'

Ariana Grande is one of the few popular contemporary pop stars with an inconceivable range. Her dancing ability is spotty/non-existent, but no one cares when your pipes span four octaves and draw Mariah Carey comparisons—early, ridiculous or otherwise—two albums in. So what happened Wednesday night when she dove into the discography of another star diva? During a concert, the singer brought out songwriter David Foster (whom the crowd clearly didn’t know at all) to play piano on a Whitney Houston track from The Bodyguard soundtrack, “I Have Nothing,” released before the 21-year-old singer was born. Grande lived up to the original, not making the mistake of trying to outwork or outshine Houston, as that would have been a rookie move. Catch it below before it’s scrubbed from YouTube.
