Scary news out of North Carolina on April 13. Wayne Community College in Goldsboro is on lockdown after one person was shot and killed in the library. The shooter is still at large.

So sad. One is confirmed dead at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina, after a man fired gunshots in the school’s library on April 13. The investigation is ongoing, with the shooter at large and police actively searching for him. Find out what we know so far.

Wayne Community College Shooting: One Dead, School On Lockdown

According to Wayne County’s assistant operations manager, Daniel Wiggins, the suspect is described as a bald, white male, 5′ 11″, with a goatee and tattoo around his left eye. He was said to be wearing a blue jacket and light-colored pants at the time of the shooting.
A representative from the school’s student government confirms that the shooting took place on the third floor of the campus’ Wayne Learning Center, and students in the library say they heard one shot ring out.
Aside from the one death, City Manager Scott Stevens says there are not thought to be any other victims so far. However, the school remains on lockdown as the investigation continues and police try and track down the shooter. A nearby elementary school and day school were also put on lockdown, and students at the Wayne Early Middle College were advised not to attend classes.
